Electricity
Electricity is provided by First Energy Corporation. Their website provides information on power outages, moving into or out of their service area or paying your bill online.
Telephone
Telephone service is provided by Windstream Communications or Verizon. Depending on your location within the Township you may be eligible for high speed DSL Internet Access or other services. Please contact the appropriate phone company for more details.
Trash Pickup
Trash pickup within the Township is provided by R&R Sanitation, Inc.. Trash pickup in the township is every Friday unless there is a Holiday. The trash collection options through R & R are:
- Pay By The Bag – You can pay by the bag at a cost of $2.15 per bag, sold in packages of ten bags for $21.50 + handling fees, these bags can be purchased at Porter’s IGA located in Garrettsville. Bulk items are extra.
- Two Cans or Bags per Week (60 Gallon Service) – If you choose this service the cost would be $29.25 per quarter. Bulk items are extra.
- Three Cans or Bags per Week (90 Gallon Service) – If you choose this service the cost would be $34.50 per quarter. Bulk items are extra.
- Unlimited Service – The cost for this service is $39.75 per quarter. Regular trash must be placed at the curb in a standard container but this fee includes bulk items at no extra charge.
NOTE: Due to the excessive cost of fuel there can be a fuel charge added to the quarterly bill.
Recycling
Portage County has a recycling program that Hiram Township participates in. For more information or to sign up, contact Portage County Solid Waste Management. Recycling is picked up every Friday unless there is a holiday.
